FAQ - "One at a Time Usage" with hardware key
Q. Why does planEASe come with a hardware key?
- A. The hardware key is a protection device that enforces the limitations of the planEASe license.
Q. How many computers can I use it on?

A. You can install planEASe on as many computers as you want, no limit. Each
time it starts on a machine it will look for the hardware key and if is attached
it will start. If the hardware key is not there planEASe will return an Error 3
and not continue operations.
Q. What if I have a home computer and office computer. Can I use the planEASe on both?

A. Yes you can use it on both computers, but the hardware key needs to be attached to the machine you are using at the time of use.
Q. What if the hardware key is damaged, and I send it back to you. What is your replacement policy?

A. If the key is returned and is recognizable as the planEASe key, then we
replace it at cost (currently $50), and ship a new one to you via FedEx NextDay
Air Priority which should arrive before 10:30am and will need to be signed for.
We will not send a replacement key until we have received the damaged one first.
Q. What if someone steals the hardware key, and I don't have it anymore?

A. The hardware key is like any other physical object that you purchase. Once you receive delivery of the hardware key, it is your responsibility. The hardware key is your software license that can be installed and used anywhere. If you lose your hardware key then you use your planEASe license. If you want another planEASe license the prices will be under the multiple
license prices.
Q. What if I lose the key and I am sure that no one stole it?

Q. Is there anyway to get a replacement hardware key if I don't have the original one to send back?

Q. Do you provide insurance for a lost/stolen key?

A. No we do not provide insurance. The hardware key should be insurable under your business insurance.
Q. Is there a way to buy planEASe without the hardware key?
Q. What if I find the original hardware key after buying a replacement hardware key (under the multiple license prices)?

A. If you find the original hardware key, and return it in a verifiable form we will refund the replacement cost less the difference in support and a restocking fee.
Q. Is the planEASe program on the hardware key? Are the files saved on the hardware key?
- A. No. The planEASe software is installed on your machines and the files are saved on your machine (or server).
Q. What do the hardware keys look like?
- A. There are two types of keys: USB shown in purple, and Parallel Port shown in gray. Any machine that you use needs to be able to read this key. The most popular key is the USB.

Q. Why are hardware keys sometimes called dongles?

A. These keys have been around since the seventies, and "Dongle" was the name given to them at that time.
